Prajwal Revanna Sex Scandal: HD Revanna Claims ‘Political Conspiracy’ Against Him, Son; Says No ‘Black Spot’ In His Career

HD Revanna was arrested by sleuths of a Special Investigation Team in a kidnapping case linked to sexual abuse allegations against his son Prajwal Revanna.

Prajwal Revanna Sex Scandal: JD(S) MLA HD Revanna Sunday claimed his arrest in an alleged kidnapping case linked to the purported ‘sex scandal’ involving his son and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, is part of a political conspiracy against his family.

The Holenarsipura MLA also claimed there was no “black spot” in his nearly four-decade long political career.

“This is a political conspiracy against me and my family. I have never seen anything like this in 40 years of my political life. There is no black spot in 40 years of my (political) career,” the former Karnataka Minister told reporters outside the Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital where he was brought for medical examination by the Karnataka Police on Sunday.

HD Revanna arrest

On Saturday, HD Revanna was arrested by sleuths of a Special Investigation Team in a kidnapping case linked to sexual abuse allegations against his son Prajwal, officials said. The JD(S) MLA was arrested soon after a Bengaluru court rejected his anticipatory bail plea.

The former minister was picked up from the Padmanabhanagar residence of his father, JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, and brought to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) office.

Officials said a case was registered against Revanna, a former Minister and son of JD(S) patriarch and former PM H D Deve Gowda and his confidant Sathish Babanna in Mysuru on Thursday night for allegedly abducting a woman, who is also reportedly a victim of alleged sexual abuse by his son and MP Prajwal Revanna.

The SIT had later rescued the alleged victim from a farmhouse owned by one Rajasekhar, a close aide of Revanna, in Kalenahalli area, police said, adding that the woman’s statement will be recorded soon.

The incident came to light after the woman’s son filed a complaint, claiming that his mother, who worked as a maid at the house of HD Revanna for almost five years, had been kidnapped from her house  by the MLA’s relative, Satish Babanna on April 29.

The complainant stated his mother is being held captive at a farmhouse owned by Rajasekhar in Kalenalli, following which a SIT, which is probing the sexual abuse allegations against the father-son duo, mounted a rescue operation and freed her.

Babanna has already been arrested in connection with the case.

Revanna has been charged under Section 364(a) (kidnapping for ransom, etc), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine a person) and 34 (the acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister Parameshwara Sunday said a “Blue Corner Notice” has been issued against Prajwal Revanna to locate the whereabouts of the Hassan MP who reportedly fled the country after allegations of sexual assault surfaced against him.
