Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha Election 2024: The Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in the state of Karnataka. Initially part of the Bombay State and later a part of the Mysore State, it has a total population of 1.938 million, including approximately 1.45 million voters, with 742,000 male voters and 707,000 female voters. Among Karnataka’s 28 Lok Sabha seats, five are reserved for SC candidates, and two for ST candidates. There are eight Vidhan Sabha seats under the Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency: Khanapur, Kittur, Haliyal, Karwar, Kumta, Bhatkal, Sirsi, and Yellapur. Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha constituency will go to polls in May this year. The date of voting is May 7 (Phase 3). The results for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in the Uttara Kannada constituency will be announced on June 4.

Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha Election 2024: Candidates 

In its latest list of candidates for Lok Sabha elections 2024, the BJP has excluded Ananth Kumar Hegde from the Uttara Kannada constituency. Hegde, a six-time representative, faced backlash due to repeated gaffes. The ticket now belongs to Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, a respected party loyalist and former Karnataka Assembly Speaker. Meanwhile, Congress introduces Anjali Nimbalkar, wife of senior IPS officer Hemant Nimbalkar, as their candidate. Nimbalkar previously contested from Khanapur. Niranjan Sardesai from Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti enters the race, adding a new dynamic to the Uttara Kannada political landscape.

Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha Election 2019 Result

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP candidate Anant Kumar Hegde defeated Janata Dal (Secular) candidate Anand Asnotikar by 479,649 votes, receiving 786,042 votes, while Asnotikar received 306,393 votes. The None of the Above (NOTA) option came in third place with 16,017 votes.
