Kerala News: As many as seventy people suffered from suspected food poisoning and were hospitalised on Sunday, a day after they ate “kuzhimanthi” at a restaurant in Thrissur district of Kerala, health officials said.
An district health department official said around 60 to 70 people who ate at a restaurant in the Moonnupeedika area of Thrissur district on Saturday, sought treatment at various hospitals Sunday for suspected food poisoning.
“The victims are receiving medical treatment at various hospitals, however, none of them are in serious condition,” the official said.
According to health officials, it is suspected that the mayonnaise served with the dish known as “kuzhimanthi” caused the people to suffer from food poisoning.

Local media reports said as many as 27 people who ate at the restaurant complained of food poisoning and sought treatment at various hospitals for diarrhea, vomiting, and other related illnesses.
Police said some people were admitted to hospitals after they complained of illness due to alleged food poisoning.
Meanwhile, the restaurant in question has been sealed by authorities following the incident, they said.
“The authorities have sealed the hotel following the incident,” an officer at the Kaipamangalam police station, under whose jurisdiction the incident occurred, said.
He said a case has been registered against the restaurant owner and further investigation in the case is underway.
