2. Snowstorm: Bollywood e-shtyle

Bollywood is the answer to any problem in life, from films on how to treat your parents right, such as “Baghban,” to explaining how to get away with murder, such as “Masti.”

Snuggle up this snow season with that awesome cup of chai you just made, a fuzzy blanket and a snow-inspired Bollywood film! Grab a copy of the romantic thriller, “Fanaa,” where Kajol and Aamir Khan take part in a dangerous romance amidst the gorgeous snowy hills of Kashmir. Or, if you’re in the mood for a lighter film, check out “Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani” and trek with Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin to the snow covered mountains of Manali.

3. Ludo Time!

Grab your siblings and sit down for a game of Ludo! Ludo may seem like an innocent game, but trust me when I say this game can get severely intense if you play it right. Make the game a little more exciting with a bet, where the loser has to go shovel the snow.

4. Oil Up!

This is a tried and true method of using your spare time wisely: oil up that hair. Yes, I know it’ll make you look gross—but hey, no one is going to see you! You’re trapped in a snowstorm, remember?

If you are of South Asian descent and you are not familiar with a bottle of Parachute Coconut oil or Vatika’s Coconut Oil, you need to re-evaluate your life. Say what you may about the smell or look, but coconut oil works wonders for your hair! Generously pour on the oil and massage it into your scalp, leave it on for a few hours and then wash the oil out. You may have to shampoo your hair twice to get the greasy feeling completely out—and be sure to use conditioner to add to the softness.

You can even try some homemade deep conditioning treatments while you’re at it. (And men, don’t be afraid these will work wonders for your hair as well!)

5. Maggi, Oh Maggi!

Maggi noodles are the bane of my existence—I cannot explain how heartbroken I was when Maggi was recalled! But now they are back, and of course, better than ever!

Be sure to stock on up Maggi before the snowstorm so you can make some in the comfort of your own home. Since you’ll have a lot of free time, experiment with your Maggi noodles! Add vegetables, different spices, or some chicken! You’ve got more than enough time for some trial and error.

6. Antakshiri Challenge

With all those hours trapped together, try  not to kill each other and actually spend some quality time with your family. Have some laughs with an awesome game of Antakshiri! The rules are simple, you must start a song with the last letter of the song your opposition just sang. Pop some popcorn, clear away the furniture and let loose that inner Bollywood singer!

7. Act It Out

Not a family of singers? Try Dumb Charades instead! This game is another South Asian family favorite where you act out phrases or movie names for your team to guess. Get creative and don’t be self-conscious of your acting skills. Let loose and enjoy!

8. How Round Is Your Roti?

Seriously, how round is your roti? If it looks like a continent, you need to get working on making that perfect roti—and thankfully you’ve got the free time to practice. Guys and girls alike should know how to make a round roti; it is 2016 after all. Marriage is a team challenge, friends. If I need to know how to clean a toilet, make the perfect cup of chai, and a round roti with a diameter of 8 inches, then so does the future husband.

9. Never Too Cold For Cricket!

South Asians are known for their extreme love for the game of cricket—and it is never too hot or too cold to play. This snow season, gear up for a game of cricket outside! You can get creative and even build the wickets out of snow. The snow adds an extra challenge—but it does make it easier to get someone “out” in the snow because it will be difficult to run between the wickets.

10. Whip Out That Carrom Board

Another family friendly came is carrom! You know that embarrassingly large hunk of wood you had to lug through customs as you came back from the motherland? Yeah, that’s a board game. When the uncles sit down for a game of carrom with a cup of chai it is some serious business. Use this time to get to know your dad, uncle or grandfather and find out about their secretly reckless childhood.

11. Play Catch-Up

No time like the present to binge on some drama-filled saas-bahu serials to add a little zest to your day. Zee Family has a ton of popular shows, live TV channels, and movies available to you on-demand, such as “Kum Kum Bhagya,” “Tashn-E-Ishq,” “Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani” and even brand new shows like “Meri Saasu Ma.”

If you’re not about that saas-bahu life then check out Aziz Ansari’s “Master of None,” Mindy Kaling’s “The Mindy Project,” or Priyanka Chopra’s “Quantico”!

12. Get on that Shaadi.com Life

If you’re single and you know it clap your hands! You know, I know, and Minty Auntie down the street knows that your mom’s desperation to get you married is very real.

If you haven’t tried it yet, get on Shaadi.com—or if you are already on Shaadi.com, update that profile! You’ve got time to try out some hot looks, force your siblings to do a photo shoot and update that profile. Browse through some profiles while you’re at it, and message someone that you are interested in. If you’ve got to be trapped at home, you might as well chat up a good-looking stranger.

14. How to Wear a Sari

A sari is the sexiest article of clothing a woman can wear—haven’t you seen the seductive Bollywood songs from the 90s? It covers you, yet shows just enough skin to tease; it hugs your curves and shows off your assets. Sarees are tricky business to wear of course, but once it’s pinned just right, the entire appeal is magical.
