Fall is finally here! What better way to embrace the change of seasons than with some delicious cocktails? Here are five cocktails that are perfect to try this fall.
A margarita is a classic cocktail everyone knows. Add an apple cider flavor taste to this margarita mix, and it’s perfect to sip on this season.
Ingredients:
Add a few spoonfuls of cane sugar, coarse sugar, and cinnamon to a plate. Run an orange segment around the edge of the glass, then press the glass into the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat the rim. Add a few orange slices in the bottom of the glass, fill with ice, then add the Grand Marnier, tequila, and apple cider and stir to mix. Garnish with apple slices and cinnamon sticks. Enjoy! Recipe serves 1 and is easily multiplied.
Helpful Tip: Even if you prefer silver tequila regularly, gold tequila for this recipe really gives a “warmth” that matches the cider and cinnamon perfectly.
Like a mimosa, a classic favorite brunch drink, another great fall cocktail to try is anything with ginger and grapefruit.
Ingredients:
1 ounce of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice
1.2 ounce Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur
3 to 4 ounces Prosecco or other sparkling wine
Grapefruit wedge to garnish
Directions:
Pour the grapefruit juice and Domain de Canton in a champagne glass. Gently pour the prosecco over the top until glass is nearly full. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge.
The fall season is also known as apple picking season. Having a drink that infuses apple cider and caramel is not only the perfect dessert drink, but it’s also perfect for the slightly chilly weather.
Ingredients:
2 ounce Caramel flavored vodka
1 ½ ounce apple cider
¼ ounce lemon juice
Caramel sauce for rimming
Apple slices for garnish
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake well. Strain into a martini glass. Garnish rim with a bead of caramel sauce on the inside top edge and a slice of apple.
Helpful Tip: A handy squirt bottle may help to garnish the caramel sauce on the rim.
Drinking a glass of wine a day is good for your health—and if you simply add a twist to your daily dose of wine, you’ll have mulled wine: a cozy winter-esque drink.
Ingredients:
1 (750ml) bottle red wine
1 orange, sliced
¼ cup brandy (optional)
1/4 cup honey or sugar
8 whole cloves
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a non-aluminum saucepan, and bring to a simmer over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low, and let simmer for at least 15 minutes. Strain, and serve warm.
Helpful Tip: You can also place the oranges, cinnamon, cloves, and star anise in a cheesecloth. Then strain and pull out the bundle when ready.
If you’re looking to try a new drink recipe for Thanksgiving, this drink will have your guests raving over it.
Ingredients
2 cups of fresh cranberries
2 cups of water
2 cups of sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
¾ cup bourbon or whiskey
½ cup lemon juice
¼ cup orange juice
Simple syrup
Ice cubes & cocktail shaker for mixing
Directions
In a medium-sized pot add cranberries, water, sugar, and cinnamon sticks. Heat over a medium flame, and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, and cook, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst open and can easily be stirred into the syrup, resulting in a smooth consistency.
Once done, remove syrup from heat. Fit a large bowl with a fine mesh strainer and strain the simple syrup, leaving all of the large chunks and skin behind. Let cool for at least 10 minutes before using.
When ready to make your cocktails, add ¾ cup simple syrup, whiskey, lemon juice, orange juice, lime juice, and a large handful of ice to a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously for 30 seconds. Divide into 4 glasses and serve at once.
