Not every girl would date a single dad, because it is not everyone’s cup of tea and it is okay too. There are numerous reasons why women usually think twice before dating a single dad. With so many responsibilities, you wonder if he will be able to give you time. Will he focus too much on his kid? Will he bring his kid everywhere you two go? This and several other questions may play upon your mind.  You might also be worried thinking about how involved will the kid’s mother be in your life. All these concerns are only normal. But it would be unfair on your part to try changing his life only because you walked in. The child will always be the top most priority

Yes you are dating your man and you are expecting a lot of time with him. But since you made the choice of dating a man who is also a father to a child, you have no option but to accept that no matter how much in love he is with you, his number one priority will always be his child. You have to coexist with all this and understand that no love is more or less in this case.

The child’s mother will not leave his life completely

Your man will always be in contact with the child’s mother for the sake of his child. If you cannot deal with this, you should re-consider this relationship. The child will need his/her mother so she will not completely leave your man’s life. There is no reason to be worried because now he is your man and the only conversation he will have with his first wife is maybe about the child and other things. You can try co-parenting and be nice. At times when the mother and your man fight, just be there for him

When a man has a child with his ex partner it is totally not easy to completely ignore them and that is never an option either. There can be times when you see your man all pissed at his ex-wife for something. It can be silly or it can be serious. Your role here is to support him and just be there for him. Help him calm down and don’t add fuel to the fire because that is downright toxic.  Just reassure him that you are always there for him.

You get to meet the kid only when things are serious and sure

Do not insist in meeting your child right from the start. Give your man some time. You should know that you will get to meet his child only when he is sure of you and when things are getting serious. Sometimes plans can get altered because of responsibilities

Dates, movies, trips are all a part of a normal relationship. However when you are dating a single dad, this cannot always happen. There will be times when plans are cancelled or altered because of some emergency, mostly that involves the child. You cannot get mad at such times because like we first said, his child will be his number one priority.
