Nita Ambani is an epitome of heritage fashion. At a time when all the divas experiment with unique styles both western and Indian, this businesswoman is always about presenting the Indian culture and heritage. Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani were invited at President Elect Donald Trump’s special dinner. After the breathtaking Kancheepuram saree and 200-year-old peacock pendant, Mrs Ambani opted for a exquisite jamewar saree at a special dinner held in Washington over the weekend.
Take it from the queen of saree how to drape elegance at its best. She wore a flawless drape of traditional Kashmiri textile of jamewar shawls. Designed by Tarun Tahiliani, the ensemble was crafted over 1900 hours, seamlessly combines classic aari work with intricate French knots. She paired with a modern tapered collared blouse.
“To achieve its flawless drape and texture, craftsmen embroidered heritage jamewar shawls, which were then meticulously hand-painted, printed, and further embroidered. The result is a refined interplay of heritage artistry and modern tailoring,” writes the designer.
After a complete traditional look, Nita Ambani chose a modern interpretation of jamewar, adorned with the finest kashidakari which is a tribute to India’s rich traditions presented through a contemporary lens. The intricate detailing reveals a fine amalgamation of contemporary and traditional.

The borders and cutwork exude a sense of royalty. For glam picks, Nita Ambani opted for her usual elegant choice glossy lip colour, mascara, kohl-ed eyed and simple black bindi. She elevated the look with a statement chandbali style diamond and pearl earrings. A beautiful jewelled bracelet adorns her writs effortlessly. This time, she let her loose wavy hair cascade over the shoulders.
About Jamawar Fabric
Jama means ‘robe’ and war means ‘yard’. This is a traditional textile from Kashmir usually made from the exquisite pashmina wool. There is a strong dominance of floral motifs. Due to its rich and fine raw material, it had often been a commonplace for the novelty and royal class. Weavers were commissioned specially for shawls and robe designs and, reportedly, some of the garments often took almost a decade to finish.
For the first dinner, she wore a vibrant Kancheepuram silk saree and her jewellery remains the highlight. This first look was all about the emeralds and the second sparkles with elegance of pearls and diamonds.
