However, Aamir was not the only one training to play the part of a wrestler. The leading ladies too had to go through rigorous training to play their part with complete honesty. UTV Motion Pictures released another video of the movie’s Dhaakad girls, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Sanya Malhotra, who are playing Geeta and Babita Phogat and Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar, who are playing the younger version of the Geeta and Babita, training to play their role as wrestlers.

The video shows the four girls being trained by the coach of the Indian wrestling team and Arjuna awardee, Kripa Shankar Bishnoi Beniwal. The training went on for around seven to eight months. The film director, Nitesh Tiwari was sure that the girls could not become professional wrestlers in six months, but he asked Kripa Shankar to train them properly so that the wrestling does not look fake on screen. The regime followed by the girls was same as that of Senior Indian Women’s wrestling team only the intensity was a little bit toned down. The training improved the girls’ strength, flexibility and fitness levels.

Fatima Sana Shaikh revealed that for eight to nine months they were training six days a week and not on alternate days. Suhani Bhatnagar, who will be seen playing the role of the younger version of Babita Phogat, is the youngest of the lot and showed great enthusiasm during the training. One of the main concerns of the trainer Kripa Shankar was that Zaira Wasim, the beautiful young actress from Kashmir who is playing the younger self of Geeta Phogat in the movie, was weak and will not be able to cope up with the training schedule. Even Aamir Khan was worried whether Zaira will be able to pull off the wrestling scenes, but with her very first shot of wrestling, she surprised everyone with her energy and performance. In front of the camera, she fought like a true wrestler. Nitesh Tiwari was all praise for Sanya Malhotra who trained with the other girls for months even though her fight scenes in the movie do not exceed more than a minute. Sanya trained with Fatima for seven to nine months without questioning anyone.
