A fervour of happiness is reigning all over as the festival of lights has dawned upon us. Homes are gleaming with joy, sparkling as the diyas are being lit up. Diwali is one of the most auspicious Hindu festival that is celebrated with great joy across India. Every place has its own set of rituals, and traditions to celebrate the joyous occasion. It is believed that Diwali incurs wealth and prosperity. Hence, it is the day when Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesh are prayed to.
Here is a list of dos and don’ts to perform Lakshmi Puja.

Usually, on Lakshmi puja people get up early morning to take a fresh bath before starting the puja. Homes are cleanes, decorated with flowers, lights and colour. Some devotees, also tend to observe a full day fast on Lakshmi Puja.
People offer lotus, kheel, types of sweets, rice kheer, batasha supari, elach etc during the puja. It is only post puja that diyas and earthen lamps are lit up in the evening.
