There is also apps for online doctor consultation and one of them is called Doctor Insta.  Made in India, Doctor Insta is a telemedicine app offering instant medical help anywhere and anytime. You can consult a doctor at the comfort of your home with this app. Presently, Doctor Insta supports iOS and Andriod devices. Founded by Amit Munjal, Doctor Insta is a simple app that connects the patient to a doctor via call, video chat or text chat. It has doctors in general medicine, psychology, diet and nutrition, pediatrics, dermatology and gynecology among other fields. You can schedule an appointment with a doctor at a charge of Rs 400 and interact with him/her during the assigned time via phone call, video call or text chat. The doctor listens to symptoms or examines the photo of the condition uploaded by the patient to diagnose the issue. After the diagnosis, the doctor prescribes the medication. If there is a medical history, you can upload the reports to your profile to keep your doctor aware of your health condition.

Doctor Details

We tried the app and were relieved to find that its interface was really simple and navigating through the app was easy. Apart from the tabs to look for an expert and book an appointment, there are health articles by doctors. We scheduled an appointment with general practitioner Dr. Amar Amale, who told us exactly how this app works. Dr. Amar Amale informed us that he gets around 10 patient calls in a day. His patients have scheduled follow-ups and also referred other patients to him. Each doctor has ratings and reviews from the patients.

Our appointment with the doctor was similar to regular doctor consultation. He patiently heard the symptoms and asked a few questions. There was no need for a video call when we reviewed the app but if a person wants to have a video call to give the doctor a better idea of an injury or other medical condition, he/she can use the video call facility. The doctor assured us that the quality of the video call.  After consultation, Dr. Amar Amale said that he doesn’t believe in prescribing unnecessary tablets and capsules (and we liked that about him). He suggested some primary ways to treat the condition and a prescription of the same was posted in our profile. The prescription is posted in the history section and in the same section, you will find a tab to schedule a follow-up.

Our overall experience was good. The app is useful in avoiding a visit to the local clinic for common ailments. However, if there is an emergency, it is advisable to visit a hospital. The doctors at Doctor Insta will also suggest you consult a local practitioner in case of an emergency or if there is an urgent need to conduct some medical tests. So, download the app if you want to skip the line at your local doctor or want to get the consultation from your home.
