Viagra is a drug is used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction and impotence in men. Men across the globe have taken Viagra or other drugs like vardenafil (Levitra) and tadalafil (Cialis) found them to be effective in treating the condition. The active ingredient in the drug enables some muscles to relax and allow more blood to flow. The blood rushes to the penis and gives the man a better erection. In Women, menopause can cause the libido to drop. Women may become less interested in sex during this period. So, can she take Viagra to improve her sex life? Let’s see Viagra’s effect on females.

Men and women are different and an effective treatment for one may not be as effective for the other. A scientific research was conducted to analyze Viagra’s effect on female and the results were not promising. Viagra improves the blood flow to the penis and helps in achieving a better erection but it cannot improve sexual desire. The UCLA Female Sexual Medical Centre in Los Angeles conducted a trial in which women were administered Viagra. It was found that the drug improved the participant’s sexual life but scientists were unable to replicate the effect of the study.

Clinical trials have not been able to prove that the drug is effective and safe for women. In many countries, Viagra is prescribed to only men as scientific studies have not provided any proof that the drug is helpful in improving sexual arousal. It is also possible that it can cause side effects. Viagra can result in undesirable side effects like heart attack, dizziness, indigestion, headaches, stroke, diarrhea and flushed skin in men. However, scientific studies have not been conducted to observe the side effects of Viagra in females.

It is advisable to talk to your doctor or seek professional help if you are experiencing a drop in libido and are not interested in sex. You can ask your doctor about the options available to improve your sex life. In majority of the cases, women lack the desire to have physical intimacy, so it will be helpful to have a discussion with your partner as well. Presently there are no licensed treatments for women’s sexual problem. You may find many products labeled as female Viagra online but there is no proof that these supplements will be effective in improving sexual health.
