A common question in mind of those Indians travelling to or planning to travel to Lakshadweep Islands, is whether they require a passport for the same or not. To answer your question, a passport is not required for Indians to visit Lakshadweep Islands but unlike the other states of India, an entry permit is mandatory, irrespective of whether you are an Indian National or a foreign tourist.
As mentioned earlier, you require an entry permit to visit the Lakshadweep Islands and to get this entry permit, you have to provide your name, address, date and place of birth. For foreign nationals, apart from the permit, passport and visa details are also required. The permit is mandatory for all non-native individuals according to the Laccadive, Minicoy and Amindivi Islands (Restriction On Entry and Residence) Rule of 1967.
