Farah Khan Asks Chunky Pandey’s Daughter to do a DNA test: What is a DNA test and how does it work?
Farah Khan took a jibe at Chunky Pandey by asking his daughter to do a DNA test as she is too pretty. Here’s what DNA testing is and how it works.
Recently, Chunky Pandey’wife Bhavna Pandey shared a photo of their daughter Ananya on Instagram and filmmaker Farah Khan took a dig at Chunky Pandey by writing, ‘Do a DNA test pls..she’s too lovely to b chunky’s child. ’ The choreographer turned filmmaker complemented Ananya, who will soon make her Bollywood debut, in her own unique style. She found it difficult to believe that Ananya is Chunky Pandey’s daughter and asked her to get a DNA test done. For those who don’t know, DNA testing is done for identification and to determine the biological parents of an individual. Here’s what DNA testing is and how it works.
What is DNA testing?
DNA testing is done for identification. It is a power tool used for parental testing, gene therapy, forensic testing and genetic genealogy. DNA paternity testing is done to determine the biological parents or child of an individual. It is a genetic proof to determine whether a woman is the biological mother of a child or a man is the biological father of a child. You can also determine biological grandparents using the DNA testing method. DNA is your blue print and is present in all the cells of your body. In humans, 99.9 percent of the DNA will be identical but the 0.1 percent of the DNA is unique in each person. These DNA codes are called genetic markers and these markers will be similar in those who are closely related to each other. So, the DNA testing analyses these genetic markers to determine the paternity or maternity.
How does DNA testing work?
In DNA testing, genetic markers from the two biological samples are analyzed and are checked for any similarities. Samples for the testing can be taken from anywhere in your body as all the cells contain DNA. Hair follicles, blood or skin can be used for testing. The sample is processed to isolate the DNA from the cells, and then several million copies of the DNA are produced using a technique called ‘polymerase chain reaction’ or PCR. A natural enzyme is used by PCR to replicate a particular stretch of DNA sequence. Analyzing becomes easier with many copies of the DNA. DNA sequences from two samples are compared to determine whether there are any similarities. There is less than one in a billion chances of two unrelated individuals having similar markers or profile.
