Halloween 2017 Recipe: How to Make Delicious Mackerel Xec-Xec at Home

You can make a fresh mackerel dish for your guests who love to gorge on seafood. Roasted and grilled mackerel adds a nice zing to the dish, here is a recipe of Mackerel Xec-Xec shared to us by chef Joe Manavalan, Assistant Vice-President, Innovation and Design, Licious. You can whip up this fancy dish in about 25 minutes. Here is the list of ingredients followed by the method of preparation to make Mackerel Xec-Xec. Ingredients:

Mackerels 8 pieces
1 Coconut
Red Chilies 15 pieces
Turmeric ½ teaspoon
Tamarind 10 grams
Onions 1 small
Green Chili 3 piece
Salt to taste

To make Mackerel Xec-Xec , first roast the raw mackerels on fire or live coal until it’s cooked. If you do not want to roast it, you can also use a frying pan and cook it with a teaspoon of oil.

Then de-bone the fish and keep it aside. Now, grind coconut, red chilies, turmeric and tamarind to make a fine paste in a wet grinder.

In a kadai add a teaspoon of oil and when the oil heats up, toss the chopped onions into it. When they turn golden brown add slit green chilies, then add the ground paste and fry for 5 minutes.

Add the de boned mackerel pieces and mix gently so that they do not break into small pieces. Add salt and cook for another 5 minutes. Serve hot.
