Holi Bhang Drink Recipes: These 5 delicious bhang drinks will make your Holi a little more colourful

Bhang is an edible preparation of cannabis and is consumed traditionally on Holi and Mahashivratri. Numerous sweet and savoury dishes and drinks are laced with the intoxicating substance and is consumed on the festival of colours to make it a little more colourful. India has had a long history of cannabis use with the Atharva Ved calling it as one the five most sacred plants on Earth and even mentioning that a guardian angel resides in its leaves.

Atharva Ved also refers to the cannabis as a “source of happiness,” a “joy-giver” and a “liberator”. Cannabis finds use in Ayurveda as well and is an important ingredient in a lot of medicines. The Indian Hemp Drugs Commission had even called it the ‘penicillin of Ayurvedic medicine’. It’s consumed by Hindus all over the world during Dulandi as the act of playing with colours is called. Bhang Aur Khus ki thandai Recipe

Ingredients:

Bhang leaves: 10 gms
Thandai mix: 20 gms
Milk: 150 ml
Sugar: 10 gms
Khus water: 05 ml
Vanilla Ice Cream: 01 scoop

Method:

1. Make a paste of bhang leaves and thandai mix,
2. Mix with milk, sugar and khus sharbat and vanilla ice cream.

Bhang and Mint sherbet Recipe

Ingredients:

Water: 100 ml
Mint leaves: 05 gms
Sugar Syrup: 10 ml
Ice cubes: As required
Bhang leaves: 10 gms
Lemon Juice: 05 ml

Method:

1. Finely chop mint and Bhang leaves together and mix in chilled water.
2. Add sugar syrup and lemon juice.
3. Serve with ice cubes.

Bhang ki gulabi lassi Recipe

Ingredients:

Curd: 150 gms
Rose petals: 10 gms
Sugar: 10 gms
Gulab jal: 02 drops
Bhang leaves: 10 gms
Dry fruits – for garnish: 10 gms

Method:

1. Mix all ingredients together in a blender, and churn to smooth consistency. (Except dry fruits)
2. Garnish & serve chilled.

Banana bhang shake Recipe

Ingredients:

Banana: 01 no.
Cashewnuts: 05 gms
Milk: 200 ml
Bhang leaves paste: 10 gms
Raisins: 03 gms
Almonds Flakes: A pinch
Vanilla Ice Cream: 01 scoop

Method:

1. Blend banana, cashew nuts, bhang leaves, Milk and Vanilla Ice cream together.
2. Garnish with raisins and almond flakes.

Kesariya bhang shake Recipe

Ingredients:

Kesar Pista Kulfi: 01 no.
Cashewnuts: 05 gms
Milk: 200 ml
Bhang leaves paste: 10 gms
Saffron: Few sprig
Almond flakes: A pinch

Method:

1.Blend Kulfi, Cashewnuts, bhang leaves, Milk & saffron together.
2. Garnish with almond flakes & serve.
