Are you fed up of your greasy hair? Our hair tends to get greasy over a period of time because of the oil secreted by our scalp or due to overuse of oily hair products. Some people produce more oil which makes the scalp even more oily, this can be because of multiple reasons such as stress, menstruation, pregnancy or hormonal medication. No matter what the reason is, greasy hair tends to accumulate more grime and gives rise to problems such as itchy scalp and dandruff. Here is a list of home remedies that you can use on your scalp to get rid of greasy hair. 1. Lemon juice

Using lemon juice is one of the most effective ways to get rid of greasy hair. Lemon juice is acidic in nature so it works well on greasy hair and it is also a great dandruff buster. To use lemon juice on your scalp, squeeze the juice out of 2 lemons and mix it with a cup of water. Apply this mixture on your hair and scalp. Wash your hair with lukewarm water after 10 minutes.

You can use either green tea or black tea leaves to prepare the tea rinse for your oily hair. The tea rinse works well on dull and greasy hair. Caffeine’s acidic nature will make your hair shine, provide volume and strength. Steep 1-2 teabags of green or regular black tea in hot water. Then let this mixture cool a little by diluting it with a cup of cold water. Rinse your hair and scalp using this. Let it stay for 15 minutes and then wash it off. 3. Tomato hair mask

You can also use a tomato mask to get rid of the excessive oil secretion as the acidic nature of tomatoes help balance the pH level of your scalp. To make a tomato hair mask blend one ripe tomato and mix it with one teaspoon of fuller’s earth. Apply this mask on your hair and scalp and cover your head with a shower cap and leave it for 30 minutes. Wash with cold water. Do this twice a week to get better results.
4. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is another ingredient that can easily be found in your kitchen cabinet. You can use it to get rid of the excess oil secretion, as the astringent properties of apple cider vinegar will get your hair rid of extra oil. To use apple cider vinegar on your scalp, one cup of it in one liter of water and then use this to rinse your hair. Post this do not use a blow dryer instead air-dry your hair. 5. Baking soda

Baking soda is a great exfoliator and the absorbent properties make it a good home remedy to be used on your scalp to get rid of greasy hair. Add 2-3 tbsp of baking soda and add some water accordingly to get a paste like consistency. Rub this paste all over your hair and scalp. Leave it for 15 mins and then wash it off.
6. Aloe vera

Aloe vera is one of the best hair repairing masks that you can use. It repairs your scalp, reduces dandruff, promotes hair growth and makes your hair smooth and shiny. It also helps get rid of greasy hair. Mix 2 tablespoon of of aloe vera gel with a few drops of tea tree oil and apply this all over your scalp. Massage thoroughly then wash it off after 15 minutes. 7. Fuller’s earth hair mask

Fuller’s earth is one of the most commonly used products when it comes to skincare and haircare because of the clarifying and oil-absorbing properties. You can use it as a hair mask to absorb excessive oil from the hair. To prepare a hair mask, mix half a cup of fuller’s earth with some water and add a few drops of lemon juice. Mix it to make a smooth paste and then apply it all over the hair and roots. After it dries, wash it off with lukewarm water.
