Kanwar Yatra 2024: How Auspicious Processions with Devotional Beats Boost the DJ Business
The Kanwariyas are gearing up for the auspicious process that is set to begin from July 22. This time, the holy beats of dhol and DJ might witness a spike.
Clad in orange cloths, several people carry vessels on shoulder to collect the holy water of Ganga and offer to Shiva. The Kanwar Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage undertaken by devotees of the Lord Shiva, also known as Shiva Bhakts or Kanwariyas. The annual procession takes place in the holy of Sawan that falls in the months of July-August. During this pilgrimage, millions of devotees, known as Kanwariyas, gather sacred water from the Ganga river and carry it back to their hometowns to offer at Shiva temples. The Kanwariyas carry the Ganga water to offer to Lord Shiva, as a symbolic gesture of their faith and penance. This year the Kanwar Yatra will commence from July 22 and end on August 19.
During this time security arrangements are heightened, food stalls, resting places are established road side for the kanwariyas to rest during their barefoot journey.
Kanwar Yatra History and Significance
The main pilgrimage route extends from the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, to the Shiva temples in the devotees’ hometowns, which can be hundreds of kilometers away. Popular destinations include Shiva temples in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and other nearby states.
The Kanwar Yatra is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm. Along the route, the local communities set up temporary stalls and camps to provide food, water, and other amenities to the passing Kanwariyas. The arrival of the Kanwariyas in their hometowns is also marked by grand celebrations, with the devotees offering the Ganga water at local Shiva temples amidst chanting, music, and rituals.
How Kanwar Yatra May Boost DJ Business?
Chants of ‘Bam Bam Bhole’ can heard in mild echoes as the Kanwar Yatra time is just around the corner. The Shivbhakts, in a state of trans as they celebrate he Lord and enjoy the procession with fun, frolic, dance and music.
According to report by HT city, with the Kanwar Yatra round the corner, the demand for DJ has increased multifold. Several groups are booking huge setups for the processions. a DJ from Gurugram revealed that, “This year, we are earning more from Kanwar groups than we usually do in peak wedding season!”
During the Kanwar ytras, blaring music, bhajans, religious songs become a common occurrence of a vibrant spectacle. Reportedly, this year the celebration is going to be even larger boosting the business of DJ apart from the wedding season. Amarpal Bhadana, chief of the Shiva Ke Deewane kanwariya group, mentions to HT City, “This time, we have overshot our budget of 250,000 and mave already booked a DJ and truck for 1 lakh. We’re also bringing a live singer from our village for devotional songs. The DJ will provide the sound system and karaoke for the performance. This increased our expenses, but people from our village donated generously.”
