Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week’s Grand Finale to Witness Designers Paying Ode to Saree, Event to be Held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi
The event will be preceded by a nationwide social media campaign celebrating six yards of magic.
A slew of designers will pay an ode to the six-yard wonder at the grand finale of the forthcoming Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week (LMIFW) Autumn Winter 2019, organised by India’s apex fashion body Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
The saree, its multiplicity and its personality will be celebrated by designers Akaaro, Alpana & Neeraj, Amit Aggarwal, Anamika Khanna, Anavila, Anita Dongre, Bodice, Gaurav Gupta, Little Shilpa, Neeru Kumar, Pankaj & Nidhi, Payal Khandwala, Prashant Verma, Raw Mango, Rimzim Dadu, Rohit Bal, Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna, TAANI by Tanira Sethi, Tarun Tahiliani, Urvashi Kaur and Wendell Rodricks.
LMIFW will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium from March 13-17. The finale is on March 16.
“The grand finale pays homage to the adaptability ingrained in the warp and weft of this traditional fabric, which hasn’t lost its relevance pan-India despite Western onslaught. Today, the saree has seen many innovative and artisanal renditions to woo the modern, thinking woman in a youthful way,” FDCI President Sunil Sethi said in a statement.
“Being a brand that celebrates beauty, the saree has remained a symbol of femininity and versatility, two key elements of our philosophy, making it a perfect fit for the ultimate showcasing at LMIFW. What’s interesting is new dimensions are being curated out of the existing template of the sari to make it culturally emblematic,” said Nitin Passi, Joint Managing Director, Lotus Herbals Pvt. Ltd.
The event will be preceded by a nationwide social media campaign celebrating six yards of magic. FDCI’s #sixyardsof campaign invites women across India to post their pictures in their beloved saris on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
