Instead of buying sweets on this occasion, try making a dessert all by yourself. We share with you a rather unusual recipe of Shrikhand in Vermicelli cups. For Vermicelli Cup
200 grams Vermicelli
2 teaspoons butter

For Shrikhand
1 cup hung curd
2 teaspoons powdered sugar
Few strands of saffron
One teaspoon milk

For Garnishing
Chopped pistachios
Pomegranate seeds


Take a non stick pan and melt some butter and roast the vermicelli on medium flame till it becomes brown in color. Keep on stirring so that it gets evenly roasted.

Once it gets roasted properly, switch off the flame and add condensed milk. Mix both the ingredients, until well combined.

Now take a silicon cup and spread the vermicelli mixture in a cup while it is still warm. Press it lightly with the help of spoons so that it takes the shape of cup.This will be the base of your dessert in which you will add the dollop of shrikhand.
Keep the vermicelli cup in a refrigerator for an hour to set.

To make a hung curd put the curd in a muslin cloth and keep a bowl under it to collect the liquid. After an hour you will get a thick cheese like curd.

Meanwhile in a bowl soak saffron strands in milk and keep it aside.

To make the shrikhand after an hour put hung curd in a bowl and add powdered sugar, cardamom powder, saffron mixed with milk.

Mix slowly till everything mixed properly and curd becomes light and creamy.

Take out the vermicelli cups from the silicon mould and fill the shrikhand in to vermicelli cups. Garnish with pomegranate seeds, pistachios and serve.
