Who doesn’t love lounging about on the beach or going for a cool dip in the swimming pool or the ocean? Summers are meant for outdoor adventures. But along with good times and memories, the one thing we all carry back home from our trips are suntan marks. Whether it is on our feet or back, hands or face, those ugly suntan marks refuse to go away quickly. No matter how much sunblock and sunscreen you use, no matter how much you try to cover yourself when you are out in the sun, you cannot protect yourself from suntan. You can, however, soothe your skin and help lighten your suntan. Here are some DIY tips to help you:

1) Mix 1 tbsp of yoghurt with 1 tbsp of besan or chickpea flour. Apply this on cleansed skin and keep it on for 30 minutes or till it dries. Wash off. This is a very effective and cooling way to lighten tan marks. Yoghurt can soothe sunburn and moisturize your skin. Both yoghurt and besan can help lighten the skin.

2) Aloe vera and turmeric can help even out your skin tone after tanning. All you need to do is take some ale vera gel and mix it with organic turmeric powder. Apply this on exposed areas of your skin and wait for about 15 minutes. Wash off with cold water. Aloe vera has natural healing, soothing and moisturising properties. Turmeric is good for lightening blemishes.

3) For years, sandalwood paste and rosewater have been used for the potent skin-beautifying properties. In the case of suntan, these can act like exfoliators and can help reveal new skin. Sandalwood is also very cooling in nature and will help heal sunburn.

4) Cucumbers and tomatoes can be whipped up into an easy face mask. Just chop cucumber and tomatoes and blend them together. Apply the juice on your skin and let it stay for 15 minutes. This mask will help you feel fresh and have even complexion.
