Summer Cocktail Recipes: How to make Mango Chilli Mojito and Aam Panna Margarita

Summers are here and that calls for a poolside chill session with some alcohol thrown in. Summers also mean mango season and there are a lot of ways you can get creative with mangoes, both ripe and raw. If you’re anything like us, you’ll definitely want to experiment with various mango dishes like salads, desserts and even drinks and cocktails. The latter is a fool-proof way of beating with heat, while also having some fun. The aam panna margarita cocktail and the mango chilli mojito cocktail are both perfect drinks for a hot summer afternoon.

Aam Panna is a popular drink made from jaggery and raw mango puree and is typically made in summers as it has heat-resistance properties. It’s tasty and healthy as it quenches thirst and supplies the body with sodium chloride and iron that is lost due to sweating due to intense heat. Aam Panna is also effective against gastrointestinal disorders. The following recipes have been shared with us by the mixologists at restaurant Dishkiyaoon in BKC, Mumbai.

Aam panna margarita cocktail recipe

Ingredients:

45 ml tequila

Two bar spoons of Raw mango pulp

20 ml jaggery syrup

10 ml lime juice

Pinch of black salt

For Garnishing- Raw mango slice sprinkled with chili powder

Method:

1. Mix the tequila, mango pulp, jaggery syrup and lime juice in a cocktail shaker and shake it well.

2. Add the black salt and shake well again.

4. Take a tooth pick and carefully skewer three thing slices of raw mango laced with red chili powder, as shown in the image above.

5. Place the tooth pick on top of the margarita glass. Serve immediately.

Mango Chilli Mojito Recipe

Ingredients:

60 ml Bacardi White Rum

Lime wedges

Mint leaves

Half green chilli

And 60 ml mango puree

Garnish with- Mango slice and a bunch of mint sprig

Method:

1. Add the white rum and mango puree in a cocktail shaker and mix it well.

2. Take a Collins glass and fill it with ice cubes, lime wedges, green chili and mint leaves.

4. Garnish with a sprig of mint leaves.
