On this World Whisky Day 2017, Diageo Reserve Brand Ambassador Jamie Walker shares with us the recipe of five single malt cocktails that can be made at home using premium whisky. Right from the glassware to the exact quantity, he lists all the details so you can enjoy a fine drink right in the comfort of your home.
Salted Rob Roy
Glassware: Martini Glass
Ingredients:
60 ml Talisker 10-year-old single malt
Add India.com as a Preferred Source
20 ml Salted Sweet Vermouth
3 Dashes of Orange Bitters
Method:
In a mixing glass stir all the ingredients.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with an orange twist and serve.
Smoke on the Water
Glassware: Old Fashioned Glass
Ingredients:
60 ml Lagavulin 16-year-oldsingle malt
15 ml Reduced Coca-Cola and Cherry Syrup
3 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
Method:
Stir all the ingredients with ice in a mixing glass.
Strain over a large ice block into an old-fashioned glass.
Garnish with fresh cherries soaked in whisky and brown sugar.
Edinburgh Fizz
Glassware: Hi-ball Glass
Ingredients:
45 ml Glenkinchie 12-year-old single malt
20 ml Martini Bianco Vermouth
10 ml fresh Peach Syrup
15 ml Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
Egg white (optional)
Splash of Tonic Water
Method:
Add all the ingredients to a shaker apart from the tonic water and shake hard.
Then strain over cubed ice into a highball glass and top with tonic water.
Garnish with fresh mint and serve.
Highland Cathedral
Glassware: Hi-Ball Glass
Ingredients:
45 ml Singleton of Glen Ord 12-year-old single malt
2 Bar spoons of Grapefruit Preserve
20 ml Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
10 ml Honey
Splash of Soda
Method:
Addthe Singleton of Glen Ord 12 yo, the grapefruit preserve, honey and lime juice into a cocktail shaker.
Shake with cracked ice.
Strain into a hi-ball glass with cubed ice and top with soda.
Garnish with a wedge of grapefruit.
Scottish Sazerac
Glassware: Coupette Glass
Ingredients:
50 ml Cragganmore 12-year-old single malt
10 ml Caol Ila 12-year old single malt
15 ml Honey
4 Dashes of Orange Bitters
10 ml Honey
Splash of Soda
Method:
In a mixing glass stir both the single malt whiskies, the honey and the bitters.
Strain into a chilled coupette glass.
Serve with a slice of shortbread.
