Lok Sabha Elections 2019: The voting in Assam for upcoming general elections will take place in three phases, on April 11, 12 and 24. There are a total of 14 parliamentary seats in Assam, among them, Gauhati, Barpeta, Kokrajhar and Dhubri will also go to polls. Here’s all you need to know about these seats.
Gauhati
The total electorates in Gauhati is 1,723,860, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) data. In 2014, Bijoya Chakraborty from BJP won the elections against INC’s Manash Borah.

The total electorates in Barpeta is 1,239,607, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) 2009 data. In 2014, Siraj Uddin Ajmal from AUDF won the elections against BJP’s Chandra Mohan Patowary.
Kokrajhar (ST)
The total electorates in Kokrajhar is 1,377,837, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) 2009 data. In 2014, Naba Kumar Sarania (Hira) from IND won the elections against IND’s Urkhao Gwra Brahma. This year, CPI(M) has fielded Biraj Deka from the seat.
Dhubri
The total electorates in Dhubri is 1,371,949, according to Election Commission of India (ECI) 2009 data. In 2014, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal from AUDF won the elections against INC’s Wazed Ali Choudhury. This year, CPI(M) has fielded Biraj Deka from the seat.
The polling for Lok Sabha Elections 2019 began on April 11 and will conclude on May 19. The counting of votes will be held on May 23. The results will be announced on the same day.
