Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has now made some statements, only this time they are cryptic. Taking to Twitter, Yogi said, “Muslim League is a virus. It is such a virus that there’s no future for one infected by it. Now, even the Congress is infected by it. Imagine what can happen if they won. The virus would spread in the entire nation.” Also Read - COVID-19: BJP MLA Kiran Maheshwari Passes Away, PM Modi Condoles Demise

In another tweet, the CM said, “When in 1857, Mangal Pandey fought for the country’s independence, everyone was supporting him. Then came the Muslim League and the country was partitioned. The same danger lurks over the country today. Green flags are again flying. Beware of Congress which is infected by this virus.”

While it is not clear who Yogi was pointing a finger at with ‘Muslim League’, it could be an attack on the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) of Assam.  AIUDF’s Barduddin Ajmal has already clarified that the party would not contest more than three seats in the Lok Sabha polls. However, the party also insisted that it had not entered any alliance with the Congress.

However, it is likely Yogi was referring to Indian Union Muslim League with which the Congress has an alliance in Kerala. Congress President Rahul Gandhi has filed nomination for Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha seat and its a Muslim League stronghold. The grand old party has also left two seats for the IUML.
