On Saturday, Modi had launched a scathing attack on Congress president Rahul Gandhi saying that the life of his father, late former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, ended as ‘Bhrastachari number 1’.
While addressing a BJP rally in Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, PM Modi also accused Rahul of ‘attempting to tarnish his image over the Rafale issue’. He claimed that the Congress president himself had admitted in a interview that his only aim is to tarnish the image of Modi.
“Your father was termed ‘Mr Clean’ by his courtiers, but his life ended as ‘Bhrashtachari No 1’ (corrupt number 1),” Modi had said, in an apparent reference to the Bofors case in 1980s.
He added, “By hurling abuses, you cannot turn the 50 long years of Modi’s tapasya (struggle) into dust” .”Na main gira aur na meri ummeedon ke minar gire, par kuch log mujhe girane mein kayi baar gire,” Modi had stated.
