New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released a list of 42-star campaigners for phase 1 and 2 of for Bihar. Some of those on the list are Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP President Amit Shah, former Madhya Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, and Hema Malini.

Earlier in the day, Jaya Prada, a member of Samajwadi Party who had won the Rampur Lok Sabha seat in 2004 and 2009, joined the BJP. On joining the party, she said, “I have worked in TDP and then for Samajwadi Party. Now, I have a chance to work with a heroic leader in Narendra Modi. I submit myself to this party and to the country. Whether it is cinema or politics, I have always given my best effort. I am grateful to the party for a warm welcome.”

The BJP has also released a campaign song for PM Modi.

Meanwhile, Congress also released its list of star campaigners for the first and second phase from Maharashtra. Cricketer-turned-politician Azharuddin has been included in the list of star campaigners for the party for Maharashtra.

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) had released its second list of candidates for 39 out of the 40 Lok Sabha seats in Bihar at the state BJP office on March 23. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad replaced MP Shatrughan Sinha and will be contesting from Patna Sahib.

BJP leader and former Union minister Rajiv Pratap Ruddy will be fighting from Saran. Also, Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh will be fighting from east Champaran while Dulal Chandra Goswami will be fighting from Katihar on JD(U) ticket.

The names of other leaders that were announced include Lok Janshakti Party’s Chirag Paswan who will contest from Jamui, Chandan Kumar from LJP will contest from Nawada, and Giriraj Singh will contest from Begusarai. Meanwhile, Ramkirpal Yadav will contest from Patliputra, RK Singh from Arrah, and Aswani Choubey from Buxar.
