New Delhi: Ahead of the commencement of Lok Sabha elections 2019, a video of Union Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey threatening a Sub District Magistrate (SDM) after being stopped for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct  is doing rounds on social media.

In the video, Choubey, a minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, is seen indulging in a heated argument with the SDM KK Upadhyay after the government official stopped his convoy and attempted to apprise the Union Minister about election commission’s order.

If reports are to be believed, Union minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, who is the sitting Member of Parliamentarian from Buxar, was stopped by Upadhyay (SDM) after he organised a public meeting allegedly beyond the permissible time limit and moving in a convoy of around 40 vehicles, more than the officially permitted limit.

“Khabardar, tamasha mat kijiye” (mind you, don’t make a scene),” the minister was caught threatening the official.

“What’s the issue? Who’s order is it. Send me to jail if you have to do something. This is my vehicle and you cannot seize it,” says Choubey to an official who in turn informs him that EC’s order is to confiscate the vehicles and not the individual and they will look into it.

Later speaking to media persons, SDM KK Upadhyay said that action will be taken as per the provisions of law. “There was no permission for vehicles but it has been reported that there were many vehicles parked here at Zila Maidan. There were about 30-40 vehicles in the convoy and action will be taken over it,” he said.

“His language is his concern. The case will be registered for every vehicle that was in the convoy,’ added Upadhyay.
