“Aaj UP mein kisan ki kya sthisti hai? Apne aap ko desh ke chowkidar kehne wale, inhone kisaano ko khet mein baitha diya hai chowkidari karne. Bas wade pe wada, jhooth par jhooth bola ja raha hai, bas prachaar ho raha hai aur sachaai alag hai (What is the condition of farmers in Uttar Pradesh? Those who call themselves the country’s chowkidar have forced the farmer to sit idle in their fields. They’ve made promise after promise and it is all lies. It is only campaigning whereas the truth is quite different).”

Priyanka has stoked controversy because of a viral video which showed her with children using abusive language for PM Modi. Apex child rights body National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has issued a notice to her over the alleged use of children in election campaigning.

The details of the complaint or the complainant were not provided to the media but in its notice, the child rights body objected to the use of children in election campaigning.

Meanwhile, Priyanka has insisted that she had pulled up those children for their expletive-laden language while campaigning in Amethi.

Reports say the children saw her and started clapping and shouting slogans ‘Chowkidar chor hai’. While Priyanka looked on amused, the children shouted another slogan that included an expletive for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She reportedly stopped the children and said, “Yeh wala achchha nahin hai. Achche bachche bano aur achcha bolo (This isn’t a nice one. Be good kids and speak well of others).”

After the video clip of the incident went viral on social media, Union Minister Smriti Irani posted an allegedly edited video clip on Twitter which led to a furore.
