New Delhi: While Congress has called the BJP a one-man show where votes are sought in PM Modi’s name, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has countered that with a question.

Speaking to media, Khattar said, “Congress apne karyakartaon ko kehti hai ki galti se bhi Rahul Gandhi ke naam se vote matt maangna, jis vyakti par unki party ke log vishwas nahi kar rahe uss par janta kya vishwas karegi? (Congress tells its workers not to seek votes in Rahul Gandhi’s name. If a man isn’t trusted by his own party, how will the public trust him?”

Speaking to ANI, Khattar added, “They say so because they also know that Rahul Gandhi is a subject of mockery for everyone in the country. No other leader was mocked in the manner Rahul has been mocked.”

He also alleged that Rahul has “insulted women” by saying that “women in Uttar Pradesh can give birth to one child in a week”.

“I have seen a video in which he said that the women in Uttar Pradesh can give birth to one child in a week and 52 children in a year.”

“He should be ashamed of himself for making such a sub-standard statement. He doesn’t have a daughter but he has a mother and a sister,” said Khattar.

Haryana will go to polls on May 12 in the sixth phase of elections for all its 10 Lok Sabha seats.

Earlier this month, actor-turned-politician and also a BJP MP Shatrughan Sinha had switched over to Congress while calling the saffron party a one-man show, two-men army.

The actor-turned-politician said, “I have got nothing against most leaders of the BJP. They are like family members; they have taught me a lot. I hold most of them in high esteem…Slowly and surely different things started happening.”

Sinha said that anybody in the BJP was branded as an anti-national if they praised people from other parties “based on truth and principles”.
