New Delhi: The Congress on Wednesday released its second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha election 2019. The party announced names of 16 candidates from Uttar Pradesh and five from Maharashtra. In the first list, it had announced 18 candidates, including 11 from UP.
UP state chief for the Congress, Raj Babbar, has been fielded from Moradabad while former BJP MP Savitri Phule, who only recently joined the grand old party, will contest from Bahraich.
The other candidates from Uttar Pradesh are: Omwati Jatav (Nagina), Zafar Ali Naqvi (Kheri), Kaisar Jahan (Sitapur), Majari Rahi (Misrikh), Ramashankar Bhargava (Mohanlalganj), Sanjay Singh (Sultanpur), Ratna Singh (Partapgarh), Sriprakash Jaiswal (Kanpur), Rakesh Sachan (Fatehpur), Parvez Khan (Sant Kabir Nagar), Kush Saurabh (Bansgaon), Pankaj Sonkar (Lalganj), Lalitesh Pati Tripathi (Mirzapur) and Bhagwati Prasad Choudhary (Robertsganj).
In Maharashtra, the list contains former MP Priya Dutt as well. It must be noted that Dutt had earlier written to party president Rahul Gandhi against fighting Lok Sabha elections. She has been fielded from Mumbai-North Central.
Speaking to ANI earlier in the day, Dutt had said, “I am in the race. I am fighting this election. I am fighting for the future of my children. It is a fight to save our democracy.”
Nana Patole is the party candidate from Nagpur seat while Milind Deora will contest from Mumbai South seat. Sushilkumar Shinde will be the candidate from Solapur and Namdev Usendi will contest from Gadchiroli-Chimur seat.
