New Delhi: Taking a cue from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday dared the former to fight the remaining two phases of Lok Sabha elections on certain issues.
Recently, PM Modi had challenged the Congress to fight the remaining phases on Bofors and Bhopal Gas Tragedy, two issues which had marked the regime of Rajiv Gandhi. In the same vein, Priyanka said, “Ek Dilli ki ladki apko khuli chunauti de rahi hai. Chunav ke akhiri do charan notebandi par ladiye, GST par ladiye, mahilaon ki suraksha par ladiye aur un vadon par ladiye jo aapne poore desh ke naujawano se jhoothe vaade kiye, dhokha diya un par ladiye (This Delhi girl throws an open challenge to you to fight the remaining two phases on GST, women security and all those false promises which you made to the youths of the nation).”
Lambasting the NDA for invoking late Congress leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi and blaming them for various issues plaguing the nation so many years later, she said, “Their situation is like that of those children who don’t do their homework and go to school. When teacher asks them, they say, “Kya karoon, Nehru ji ne mera parcha le liya, chhupa diya. Main kya karoon Indira ji ne kagaz ki kashti bana di mere homework ki aur kis paani mein dubo di (Their situation is like that of school kids who have gone to school without finishing their homework. When the teacher asks, they say, ‘What can I do? Nehru took my answersheet and hid it. Indira took it away, made a paper boat out of it).”
