Ghazipur (UP): Despite the Election Commission’s action against senior politicians for making controversial, even derogatory statement while campaigning for Lok Sabha elections, it hasn’t quite deterred others from playing to the gallery.
Now Union Minister Manoj Sinha is hogging the limelight for openly threatening detractors. In a rally in his Lok Sabha constituency of Ghazipur on Thursday, Sinha said, “BJP ka karyakarta apradh-arjit dhan aur bhrashtachar ko zameendoz karne ko taiyar hai aur main kehna chahta hun ki agar kisi ki ungli BJP ke karyakarta ki taraf dikhi to bharosa rakhiye 4 ghante mein vo ungli salamat nahi rahegi (BJP workers are set to eradicate black money and corruption. I want to assure you that if someone even raises a finger at BJP workers, that finger will be broken within four hours).”
He added that criminals didn’t have a place in his constituency and added, “Koi purvanchal ka apradhi kisi ki aukaat nahi hai ki Ghazipur ki seema mein aa kar ke BJP ke karyakarta ki taraf aankh dikhaega to vo aankh salamat nahi rahegi (No criminal can walk into Purvanchal and if someone so much as glares at a BJP worker, that eye will be gouged out).”
Sinha is contesting from Ghazipur and is the sitting MP as well. His name was among those doing the rounds for the chief minister’s post in Uttar Pradesh after 2017 Assembly elections.
