New Delhi: Shabana Azmi on Saturday refuted reports that claimed the veteran Bollywood actor would leave the country ‘if Narendra Modi becomes Prime Minister again.’  Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the actor reprimanded the ‘fake news brigade’ for attributing a false quote to her.

“The fake news brigade is pretty pathetic and since they can’t talk about issues, they repeatedly sell lies so that people believe them as truth. Their overdrive exposes their fear at losing out…But they are falling flat on their faces because there are enough brave voices exposing them,” she added.

Furthermore, she added,”My father Kaifi Azmi taught me to never treat my opponents like my enemies. Maturity lies in discrediting the argument with logic not discrediting the opponent by falsehood and How I wish sane debate would prevail rather than the muck thats thrown on a daily basis.”

Notably, a photo of the actor went viral on Facebook along with the claim: Big news. Even this time if Narendra Modi wins and becomes the prime minister then I will leave the country. Shabana Azmi!! A Facebook user named Rahul Mishra had shared the picture on ‘NamoAgain2019’ group.
