“Who seems more confident by face? Hema Malini has make-up, I’ve no make-up. I’m getting a good response from the public. Reason behind that is I’m a local and capable of diluting grievances of people,” said a confident Narendra Singh, while taking a jibe at the veteran Bollywood actor. Earlier this month, Hema Malini got involved in a controversy after a photograph cropped up on the social media platform where the minister was seen cutting the wheat crop with farmers in Govardhan area. The BJP leader had later remarked, “When I was going to the villages, I saw golden coloured wheat ready to be harvested… I tried my hand. Women in the fields welcomed me warmly. We visited 10 villages.” Brimming with confidence, Malini had said, “I have also done a lot of work in Braj area. People will vote for me.”
Elections to the Mathura Lok Sabha constituency, which Hema Malini wrested from sitting RLD MP Jayant Chaudhary in the 2014 polls, are slated to be held in the second phase of the 2019 general elections on April 18.
