Chennai: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) on Sunday announced its list of 20 candidates for Lok Sabha elections 2019 and 18 candidates for by-elections in Tamil Nadu on Sunday evening.
The party also announced the names of the candidates from Tamil Nadu for upcoming polls.
P Ravindranath Kumar, son of Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam will contest from Theni while Jayavardhan, son of Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar, will contest from South Chennai. Also, Deputy Speaker M. Thambi Durai will contest from Karur constituency.
The AIADMK released a statement saying it will contest from 20 seats, namely, Salem, Namakkal, Krishnagiri, Erode, Karur, Tiruppur, Pollachi, Arani, Thiruvannamalai, Chidambaram, Perambalur, Theni, Madurai, Nilgiris, Tirunelveli, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chennai South.
The party at present holds 37 of the 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.
The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has been allotted seven seats-Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Arakkonam, Cuddalore, Chennai Central, Dindigul and Sriperumbudur while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will contest from five seats, that is, Kanniyakumari, Sivaganga, Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram and Thoothukkudi.
The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK) has been allotted four seats- Kallakuruchi, Tiruchirappalli, Chennai North and Virudhunagar and the Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) will contest from three seats- Thanjavur, PT (Tenkasi) and PNK (Vellore).
N.R. Congress has been allotted the lone Puducherry seat.
