New Delhi: Posters of Robert Vadra, along with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party’s general secretary for Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi were seen near Kaushambi metro station in Ghaziabad on Saturday. A slogan saying,” Ghaziabad kare yahi Pukar, Robert Vadra abki baar’ (This time Robert Vadra will come to power in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019) has also been inscribed in the poster.
Vadra, who is embattled in a money laundering case pertaining to his alleged undisclosed assets in London, had earlier said that he will start working on joining active politics once he will be absolved from ‘baseless accusations and allegations’. “I need to absolve from baseless accusations and allegations. But yes, I will start working on it. There is no hurry.”
On being asked if he wants to join politics and contest forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, Vadra stated,”People need to feel that I can make a change… All in time.”
Prior to his statement, Vadra had also hinted at his political entry in one of his social media posts, saying his “experience and learning” of years should be put to “better use”.
“I have been a person to learn from every event I go through. The years and months that I spent campaigning and working in different parts of the country, mainly in Uttar Pradesh, gave me a feeling to do more for the people and make smaller changes possible by me, in their areas. And when they got to know me, the genuine love, affection and respect I earned was humbling,” he had said on his official Facebook profile.
Following his post, posters had surfaced in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad urging him to contest forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. “Robert Vadra ji you are welcome to contest elections from Moradabad Lok Sabha constituency,”the poster, purportedly plastered by Moradabad Youth Congress read.
