Lucknow: The AICC general secretary for Uttar Pradesh (east) Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to kickstart her campaign for upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in the state from Prayagraj on Thursday, March 14. She is likely to visit Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary constituency Varanasi as well. As per reports, Priyanka is likely to take sail from Prayagraj to Varanasi. She is scheduled to visit the historic Anand Bhawan in Prayagraj. Meanwhile in Varanasi, she will be visiting temples including the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. She will also arrive at Mirzapur and pay obeisance at the Maa Vindhyachal Devi Temple. After covering all the three regions, Priyanka will camp in Lucknow for a few days. During the period, she will take stock of poll preparedness and contribute in finalising the candidates for remaining seats in the crucial state. Till now, the Congress has released names of 11 candidates for the state. The list which was released by the party on March 7 included the names of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli and Amethi, respectively. Priyanka had on Tuesday addressed her first rally in Gujarat since she took charge as Congress general secretary and in-charge for Eastern Uttar Pradesh. In her maiden speech ahead of the general elections, Priyanka accused  PM Modi of attempting to divide the people and playing with their emotions for political gains. She also urged the people to raise important issues plaguing the country and said that one has to think what one wants this election season.

Lok Sabha Elections 2019 schedule was announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on March 10 during a press conference by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sunil Arora at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. The 7-phase elections will begin on April 11 and the counting of votes will be held on May 23.
