New Delhi: Congress candidate and actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar has declared assets worth Rs 68.28 crore (as per current market value) in her election affidavits. As per Matondkar’s affidavit, her income in 2013-14 stood at Rs 1.27 crore, which more than doubled to Rs 2.85 crore in 2017-18.
Matondkar’s movable and immovable assets worth Rs 40,93,46,474 and Rs 27,34,81,000, respectively, while her husband owns movable and immovable assets at Rs 32,35,752.53 and Rs 30,00,000, respectively.

Matondkar has a loan outstanding of Rs 32 lakh.
Notably, Matondkar, a Bollywood actress, is testing political waters for the first time and is contesting from Lok Sabha seat- Mumbai North, on the Congress’ ticket. Mumbai region goes to polls in the fourth phase on April 29. The counting of votes will take place on May 23 and the result will be declared on the same day.
Urmila submitted her nomination on Monday and was accompanied by her husband Mohsin Mir and a local Congress leader.
Earlier, after facing flak over ‘anti-Hindu’ remark, Urmila Matondkar stated that she embraced the benevolence of Hinduism but totally dismissed what the BJP wanted to promote. Urmila Matondkar said, “I believe in Hinduism which embraces benevolent concepts of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘Ahimsa Paramodharma’. This is the Hinduism promoted by our great forefathers and Lokmanya Tilak, Gandhiji, Vivekanand and Sardar Patel.” She added, “I believe in, love and respect Hinduism in this sense and not in what BJP wants to promote.”
