Bankura: Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a public rally in Bankura, West Bengal attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee saying the latter destroyed Bengal as she was drunk in power and now she is hell-bent on destroying the state because of her fear that the Trinamool government will not come to power in the state for the second term.
“Mamata Didi ne pehle Bengal ko barbaad kiya apni satta ke nashe mein, ab woh Bengal ko aur tabah karne par tul gayi hai apni satta jaane ke darr se,” he said while addressing a gathering in Bankura. PM Modi further alleged that Mamata took pride in addressing Imran Khan as the prime minister of Pakistan but when it came to her country, she violates the constitution and refuses to accept him as the PM.
“Didi desh ke samvidhaan ka apmaan kar rahi hain. Woh keh rahi hain ki desh ke pradhan mantri ko pradhan mantri maanne ke liye tayar nahi hain lekin unko Pakistan ke PM ko PM maanne mein gaurav ka anubhaav hota hai,” said Modi.
Stating that it was Mamata’s ego because of which she did not accept the Centre’s help at the time cyclone Fani hit the state, PM Modi said, “When cyclone came in West Bengal, I called Didi again and again, but because of her ego, she didn’t think it was appropriate to talk to PM. The central government wanted to talk with the officers here and help the state, but Didi refused to even hold that meeting.”
Both PM Modi and Mamata Banerjee have been engaged in a war of words during the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections. The PM had lambasted the West Bengal CM and had claimed that of 40 MLAs of the Trinamool (TMC) were in touch with BJP. He had said, “Didi, Dilli door hai (Delhi is far away for you). On May 23 when the results will come, lotus will bloom everywhere and your MLAs will desert you.”
“Even today, Didi, 40 of your MLAs are in contact with me. Political ground has slipped from under your feet,” PM Modi had said while addressing an election rally in West Bengal’s Sreerampur.
