Chennai: Addressing a rally in Krishnagiri, Congress President Rahul Gandhi assured that the leader of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MK Stalin would be the next chief minister of Tamil Nadu. He stated, “We will never ever let the people of Tamil Nadu be ruled by Nagpur. Tamil Nadu is going to be ruled from Tamil Nadu and MK Stalin is going to be the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.”

The polling for a new assembly in Tamil Nadu will take place in 2021. Notably, the Congress party in alliance with the DMK is contesting for 40 seats in the Lok Sabha elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

“Our alliance is the alliance of the people of Tamil Nadu. Both parties believe in freedom, justice and freedom of speech. We will never ever allow the people of Tamil Nadu to be ruled by people from Nagpur,” stated the Congress president. He took a jibe at the RSS which is headquartered in Maharashtra’s Nagpur.

In the second of the seven-phased Lok Sabha elections, Tamil Nadu is scheduled to contest in polls on April 18. The state will fight for the 39 parliamentary seats. On the same day, the by-election for the 18 assembly constituencies will take place.

Meanwhile, at the rally, Rahul Gandhi said the Congress party’s Minimum Income Support Scheme ‘Nyay’ would give purchasing power to the people and in turn, will propel the factories in Tamil Nadu and the overall economy.

Textile and silk hubs of Tamil Nadu, Tirupur and Kancheepuram “will become live,” again and provide employment opportunities to youngsters, added Rahul Gandhi at the rally. Notably, the Congress President was scheduled to address four public rallies in the southern state of Tamil Nadu on Friday in Krishnagiri, Salem, Theni and Madurai.
