New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday took a jibe at Congress general secretary for Uttar Pradesh east over her recent ‘Ganga Yatra’. “If I had not made Allahabad-Varanasi waterway, how could she (Priyanaka Gandhi Vadra) have travelled? She also drank Ganga water, could she have done the same under the UPA govt? ” asked Gadkari, referring to her three-day boat campaign.
Meanwhile, he also claimed that by March 2020, river Ganga will be 100% per cent clean. Notably, Priyanka had covered a distance of 100 km by boat in Ganga from Allahabad to Varanasi , the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She had also visited several temples while literally testing the political waters of UP where the Congress has been in wilderness for nearly three decades.
Earlier BJP leader and UP Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma had ridiculed Priyanka‘s boat campaign, saying every election is a “picnic” for the Gandhi family. “They come, they see and resort to rhetorical speeches. After the elections are over, they head towards Switzerland or Italy.”
Meanwhile, Gadkari is holding a roadshow in Nagpur ahead of filing nomination. He was accompanied by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Nagpur will vote in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 11.
