RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had recently tweeted that the Prime Minister was an opportunistic backward and a fake.

Echoing the same, BSP chief Mayawati too on Friday while addressing a rally in UP’s Mainpuri had said, “There is no message in it (coming together at one stage). He (Mulayam Singh) has given representation to every section of society in the Samajwadi Party. He is not a fake backward community member. Mulayamji is from real backward, has always been from the backward community, unlike PM Modi.”

Mayawati addressed the rally from the stage she shared with SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav and party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

In an apparent reference to these jibes, PM Modi in Bareilly said, “Ab ye mere pichdepan ka certificate bhi baantne lage hain, vo mere pichde hone ka mazak uda rahe hain. Har chunaav mein in logon ko jab parajay samne dikhne lagti hai to ye khel shuru ho jata hai. Meri jaati, is par aa jate hain.” (Now they are after my caste. They are making fun of my roots… In every election when the opposition starts to lose they begin mocking my beginnings.)

He further added, “Koi neech bolta hai, koi kuch gaali deta hai. Vaise bhi hum gareebon ko pichdo ko sadiyon se ye naamdaron ki gaaliyan khane ki adat hogai hai, mujhe bhi hogai hai. Lekin main inse poochna chahta hun aapne apne parivaar ka pichdapan door karne ke alawa aur kuch kiya hai kya?” (Someone calls me scum, someone abuses me… Us humble, poor people are anyway accustomed to listening to these upper caste people’s slurs. I am also used to it now. But I want to ask them, what have you done besides serving your family)

Speaking of the recently concluded two phases of the Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the losing side is already looking for reasons to justify their failure and “wondering how to stop this rollercoaster called Modi”.

At another rally in Etah, Narendra Modi attacked the SP-BSP-RLD alliance in UP and said the ‘farzi‘ friendship of the SP and the Bahujan Samaj Party will fall apart the day Lok Sabha election results are announced.

“You all remember the friendship that was struck during the assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh which came to an end with the announcement of results and turned into rivalry,” he said referring to the understanding in 2017 between the Congress and the Samajwadi Party.
