Nanded: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Congress left, right and centre on Saturday. Addressing a Lok Sabha Elections 2019 rally in Nanded district of Maharashtra, he compared the party with ‘Titanic’, claiming that it is sinking day-by-day.
“Congress ki haalat titanic jahaz ki tarah hai, ye har ek naye din ke sath duubti hi ja rahi hai. Congress ke sath jo jo iss jahaz mein baetha tha vo NCP ki tarah ya toh khud bhi duub raha hai ya uth uth kar ke bas jaan bachane ke liye bhaag raha hai (Congress condition is similar to Titanic ship. It is sinking every day. The parties which supported the Congress are running to save themselves or sinking like NCP),” the Prime Minister said.
Earlier in the day, while addressing a poll rally in Balod district of Chhattisgarh, PM Modi had alleged that the Congress and its allies are fighting upcoming general elections to give a free hand to terrorists whereas, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the other hand wants to make the country and forces self-reliant.
He also took on the Congress over its promise to amend Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act-AFSPA in its manifesto and challenged the party leaders to let go off their security cover once. Calling the AFSPA Act a ‘Suraksha Kavach’ (armour)) of the armed forces, he said, “Main zara Congress walon ko kehta hoon ye sena ke jawano ko tum nihathe bana rahe ho, zara ek baar khudh toh saari security cover se nikal kar ke dikhao zara(Congress is making the armed forces weak. I challenge the party leaders to let go off their security cover once).”
Lok Sabha Elections 2019 are scheduled to be held in seven phases. Maharashtra will vote on April 11, 18, 23 and 29. The counting of votes across country will be conducted on May 23. The results will be announced on the same day.
