New Delhi: A day ahead of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s scheduled visit to Ayodhya, posters portraying the Congress general secretary as a ‘Ram bhakt’ have emerged in the city. The poster also features Congress president and Priyanka’s brother Rahul Gandhi on the right side.
Notably, Priyanka will undertake a train journey from Delhi to Faizabad on March 27. She will hold a roadshow in Ayodhya and expected to offer prayers at the famous Hanuman Garhi temple.
The Congress leader will board a bus customised in the form of a ‘rath’ and would cover Faizabad, Sultanpur, Amethi and Unnao parliamentary constituencies during the three-day long political campaign on roads. During her campaign between March 27 and March 29, Priyanka is expected to stop at 32 points from Faizabad to Amethi, sources said. However, Congress has not made any official announcement of the programme.
Earlier this year, local Congress workers in Bihar’s Patna had plastered posters depicting Rahul Gandhi as ‘Lord Ram’ across the capital city. Reacting to the posters, the BJP had asked Congress about its stand on transferring non-disputed land in Ayodhya to the trust (which was formed to promote and oversee the construction of Ram Mandir).“What is your (the Congress) stand on the petition of the central government submitted before the Supreme Court today?” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra asked.
“This is the Congress’ poster in Patna. Sycophancy is the supreme conduct for Congressmen. Initially refute the existence of Lord Ram then dress Rahul like Shri Ram. Good that (you) became Shri Ram. Now tell this Congress people, what is your stand on Centre’s plea to SC on Ayodhya tangle?”, Patra tweeted along with the poster.
In September 2018, posters portraying Congress president as ‘Shiv Bhakt Rahul Gandhi’ were seen in Bhopal when he was scheduled to begin his party’s campaign for Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections.
