Ayodhya: The Congress General Secretary for eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, on Friday seemed poll ready as she said that she was willing to fight the elections from anywhere her party desired.

Priyanka’s remark came after party workers asked her to contest for the Lok Sabha elections from UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s parliamentary constituency Rae Bareli. Priyanka responded by asking, “Why not Varanasi?”

When asked to clarify if she was keen on fighting from Varanasi, Priyanka said, “If the party will ask, I am ready to contest from anywhere.”

On Thursday, Priyanka had triggered speculation and sent media into a frenzy with her remark that she was open to contesting from Varanasi, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the sitting MP and will be contesting this year.

She made a scathing attack on PM Modi while addressing a rally in Adilpur. Calling the PM’s actions a publicity stunt, she said, “I asked people if PM visits villages in Varanasi, I got the reply ‘he does not visit’. I was surprised because his publicity is such that I thought he must have been doing something. He visited the whole world and hugged everyone, but didn’t hug his own people.”

Earlier in the day addressing a meet in Faizabad, Priyanka had said, “BJP has led a campaign of lies these past five years. They are anti-poor, anti-farmer, anti-people… Did they transfer Rs 15 lakh in your bank accounts, as they promised.”
