New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician Sunny Deol on Monday did not shy away from acknowledging that he was new to politics and didn’t know much about issues such as Balakot strikes or India’s relations with Pakistan. However, he asserted, that he might have an opinion once he won the elections.

“I do not know much about issues like Balakot strikes or India’s relations with Pakistan. I am here to serve people; if I win maybe I will have an opinion, right now I don’t,” Sunny Deol told NDTV while holding a five-hour roadshow in Gurdaspur.

It must be noted that Sunny Doel is seeking election from Gurdaspur seat on Bharatiya Janata Party’s ticket.

Further, the actor-turned-politician showered praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told the news channel that “In the last five years, Modiji has done a great job. I want him to continue with this good work… after all to keep the nation together and take it forward are signs of a good leader.”

Sunny Deol emphasised that he just wanted to work for this country and change the persisting opinion that politicians don’t really work. “If your principles are right you can achieve anything,” he stated.

On April 23, Sunny Deol joined the BJP in presence of Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal. The ruling party fielded the actor from Punjab’s Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat. “He (Sunny Deol) understands the pulse of people and we are certain he will prove to be a strong leader,” Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had said.
