New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday modified its order and waived off condition of apology on BJP youth wing worker Priyanka Sharma. The court ordered that Sharma be released immediately.
Earlier, the Supreme Court granted conditional bail to the BJP youth wing worker on tendering a written apology for putting an objectionable picture of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on social media. The family members of Priyanka Sharma celebrated the decision of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court’s hearing on the bail plea by the BJP worker was scheduled for May 14. A Supreme Court bench of Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Sanjiv Khanna said, “will hear the bail plea of BJP youth wing worker Priyanka Sharma on Tuesday.”
A police complaint was filed against the BJP youth worker for posting a picture online of the TMC chief’s face superimposed on actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas attending the 2019 MET Gala.
The image was posted on Thursday. Priyanka Sharma’s social media account defines her as the Howrah District Club Cell Convener, Bharatiya Janata Morcha.
