Delhi: With just two phases of Lok Sabha elections left, campaigning has reached a feverish pitch. Campaigning for the BJP in Mandawali here on Tuesday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath alleged that the Congress had completely failed.

Attacking both Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his sister and party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Yogi said, “The Shehzada also failed so they brought in their Shehzadi. She was teaching abuses to innocent children of Amethi, please go and teach these abuses in Italy.”

Yogi was talking about a viral video in which Priyanka was purportedly laughing at children using expletives for PM Modi. However, that video was not verified. In fact, some fact-checking portals had claimed that the video was edited. Priyanka had also maintained that she had stopped the children from using abusive language but that part of the video was edited to show her in poor light.

Yogi Adityanath has repeatedly landed in trouble with the Election Commission (EC) for his speeches. Only last week, the EC issued him a notice over his ‘Babar ki aulad’ comment during a speech in Sambhal on April 19.

Later, he even went on to justify his comment by claiming that when one goes up on the dais, it is to corner one’s rivals, not to sing bhajans.

Yogi’s ill-worded salvo was directed at Samajwadi Party candidate Shafiq-ur-Rehman Burq in Sambhal where he had said, “On one hand, there is a candidate from a party which developed places linked to Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Gautam Budhha. On the other hand, there is an Opposition candidate who calls himself a ‘Babar ki Aulad’.”

Even that comment had come right after the 72-hours ban imposed on him by the EC in view of his remarks that violated the Model Code of Conduct, ended.
