Congress workers manhandle and thrash photojournalists who were allegedly clicking pictures of empty chairs at a public rally by the party in Virudhunagar.

Chennai: Congress workers manhandled and thrashed photojournalist who was allegedly clicking pictures of empty chairs at Tamil Nadu Congress president KS Alagiri’s public meeting in Virudhunagar district on Saturday night.

The photojournalist identified as RM Muthuraj is from a Tamil weekly magazine. The incident came to light after a video of the same surfaced. The video shows how the Congress workers manhandled the photojournalist and tried to snatch his camera while the latter was taking photographs of empty chairs at the party’s election meeting in Tamil Nadu.

Other journalists who were present at the scene intervened and ruckus broke out between the two groups. Muthuraj is said to have been admitted to a local private hospital following the attack by the Congress workers. Here’s a look at the video where the scribe was attacked by the party workers.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader SG Suryah mocked the Congress for behaving like ‘goondas’.
