New Delhi: Tejaswini, the wife of late Union Minister Ananth Kumar, was on Tuesday appointed as the Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Karnataka unit. This announcement came days after she was denied a party ticket from South Bengaluru, for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Notably, the seat, expected to go to Tejaswini, was represented by her husband Ananth Kumar who passed away in November 2018.

Former Karnataka chief minsiter B.S. Yeddyurappa announced the appointment on Twitter.

Earlier in March, reacting over the news of not being given a party ticket, Ananth Kumar’s wife had said, “It is shocking to all of my supporters and also to me. At the same time, I have been telling them and to myself that it is very important to show that we are a party with a difference. This is the time to show our maturity and to work for the country. Let`s not think of small things and our bigger goal is nation first.”

Notably, the BJP had fielded  Karnataka Yuva Morcha General Secretary Tejasvi Surya as its candidate for Bangalore South Lok Sabha constituency.
